- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2- inch piece of ginger sliced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 star anise
- 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 green onions chopped
- 1 package of fresh wheat noodles
- Pickled mustard greens optional
- Fresh cilantro optional
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
Add the beef shank or brisket and brown on all sides.
