Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Make a well in the center and pour in the milk and melted butter. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter for the sauce. Add the golden syrup, sugar, and milk, whisking until combined and slightly thickened.
Pour the syrup sauce into a baking dish.
Using a spoon or small ice-cream scoop, drop dollops of dough into the sauce, spacing them evenly.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the dumplings are puffed and cooked through.
Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm.
