  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk and melted butter. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter for the sauce. Add the golden syrup, sugar, and milk, whisking until combined and slightly thickened.
  5. Pour the syrup sauce into a baking dish.
  6. Using a spoon or small ice-cream scoop, drop dollops of dough into the sauce, spacing them evenly.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the dumplings are puffed and cooked through.
