- Preheat Oven:Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you are using a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven now to heat up.Prepare the Dough (if making from scratch):In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the 1 1/2 cups of warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour. Stir until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour (until doubled in size).Prepare the Garlic Cream Sauce: While the dough rises, combine the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, and finely chopped garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined and set aside.Shape the Crust: On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll your risen dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer it to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread the garlic cream sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust. Sprinkle both the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the sauce.Add Toppings: Arrange the dill pickle slices over the cheese. If you want some heat, sprinkle with red pepper flakes now.Bake the Pizza: Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with the fresh chopped dill or chives. Let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving.
Notes
Time-Saving Tip: To make this recipe even faster, you can use 1 lb of store-bought pizza dough instead of making it from scratch. Let the store-bought dough come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before shaping.
Pickle Choice: The type of pickle makes a big difference! Classic dill slices are great, but spicy pickles add a nice kick, and bread and butter pickles can add a sweet contrast.
